Jump Jam Under the New Canopy

These are our Jump Jam Leaders

Last term our new canopy opened I was so excited, that we were gonna do Jump Jam under it! Jump Jam is when the whole school comes together and we dance on songs. We are all in our house groups, Pukeko, Tui, Ruru and Kea. I was in Pukeko with my teacher Miss Kneller.

Our lovely Jump Jam leaders led us through because our juniors are still learning and some moves are a little tricky for them. After it all ended, I felt exhausted! It was the best day ever.

Next time I really wanna try to remember the moves off by heart so  I don’t have to watch the leaders, also because It was a little crowded and I couldn’t see the leaders clearly.

Hopefully next year I will be a jump jam leader because I love dancing on songs and this year I didn’t participate because I didn’t know what it would be like and how difficult it can be. The last song was one I have never done before and that’s why it was quite tricky. The leaders did such a good job even though they only had one practice and it was their first time being a Jump Jam leaders well, some of them’s first time.

Museum Trip

On Thursday my class and I went to the Auckland Museum. We were there to learn about volcanoes. I learnt that Rangitoto is the youngest volcano in New Zealand. My favorite part was when we pretended that we had to evacuate because of the volcano that was going to erupt. That was my favorite part because with our team we had to pack a backpack and put everything in it that is important to evacuate.

Athletics Day

On Monday it was Athletics Day at school. We had activities like high jump, long jump, shot put and sprints. My favorite was the team building challenge with Miss Bhula because trying to go past a bucket by standing on lids was so fun, and at the last everyone was 1 team. Something I want to get better at is the long jump, because I can only jump a little bit.

Koru Art

Last week was Maori Language Week. We made some koru art. We had to use cool colors and warm colors. I liked that we made it look 3 dimensional. Next time, for the light layers, I would try to make it lighter than the one before.

Lego Tower Challenge

Check out my group’s Lego tower. Let me tell you what we did. We were split in to groups of 4 we had to make a Lego tower that could survive an earthquake. It was really hard to build a tower that could survive an earthquake. Did you know why we did this? Let me tell you. For a few weeks we were learning about earthquakes, so we built Lego towers to survive earthquakes. This was all in inquiry.

Matariki poem

In Writing we have been learning to make a Matariki poem. Here is my work about Matariki.  Next time I would  put more information about the stars. I liked that me and my class used a galaxy background to match with Matariki.
